The lighting design allows the poetry of travel, the dream of a journey and escape to break into everyday life, punctuated by the choreography of the trains
The Proudhon Tunnel is a busy passageway between the residential district of Reuilly and the dynamic district of Bercy, located under the railway tracks that exit from the Gare de Lyon.
The aim of this lighting project, called "unknown at fixed times", was to enhance the value of the unique railway heritage while ensuring the safety of users.
Thanks to lighting integrated into the lace of the rails and symbolic projections inspired by concepts developed by students from the École Boule, the railway structure comes to life, comes alive and draws in the passers-by who cross it.
Through a succession of textual light projections on the floor and walls of the tunnel, the different names of the cities served from the Gare de Lyon are linked in the manner of station signs visible from the fixed interior of moving trains.
Moreover, each time a train passes by, a light animation is created, thus virtually recreating the notion of travel.
